Hot Pals Summer – August 2026

When I say we were “Hot Pals” on this day, I mean it was about 95 degrees outside with high humidity. Liz and I were canvassing in my neighborhood for the crucial city council race we are in. Do we love knocking on doors to talk local politics with neighbors, uh no. But is it the worst thing ever, definitely not! Is it pretty darned fun with a pal? YES! But I am not here to convince you to door knock for democracy. I want to tell you what many of the folks in my direct neighborhood said to me. “I vote based on the signs in your yard Maria. Thanks for putting them out there every time!” Can you put a couple of candidate signs in your yard to multiply your votes? If door knocking or signs aren’t your thing, you can contribute to candidates you believe in. (Time, treasure or talent!)

Y’all, there is no time to lose. Voter materials are already being sent and voters are making decisions. So find a Pal and get hot!
